True Feelings

Chapter 5
(Toby's POV)
''Ready to go Toby?'' Martyn asked me as we were about to go cave exploring. I lied and replied with, ''Yeah! Ready.'' Martyn nodded and then stepped into the cave. It was extremely dark even though it was day time outside. The cave lit up slightly as Martyn placed a torch down and started mining away at random ores he had found. He was humming a tune as well, I think it was Screw the Nether, whilst he started exploring deeper and deeper into the cave. At least we had remembered to make extra torches before we started this, I thought as I followed Martyn picking up any stray ores that he had passed. After about 10 minutes of mining, Martyn turned around to check I was still behind him and smiled when he saw I was. ''Oh, good you're still here! How much ore did you collect?'' I looked in my inventory and counted how much ore I had and also noticed that I was running low on torches and had forgotten to bring wood. ''I have 1 and a half stacks of iron, 2 stacks of copper, a stack of coal and some other random ores. Also, I am running out of torches and I… forgot to bring anymore wood…'' Martyn checked his inventory and replied with. ''I have basically the same, although I did manage to find some more emeralds and sapphires. Oh… yeah I kind of forgot about wood as well… Oh well! We still have a few torches, we just have to space them out a bit more.'' And with that, Martyn turned and continued exploring, spacing out his torches more. Beginning to get scared, I started to follow Martyn closer. Every step I took made me more and more paranoid that something was going to leap out at me from the shadows. At one point I almost walked into Martyn I was following him so closely. He stopped to mine something and I was too focused on looking out for mobs that I didn't notice. He turned around and just smirked at me. ''W-what are y-you laughing at?'' I asked him, slightly confused. He just giggled and replied with, ''You! The expression on your face right now is just priceless. You look so scared.'' He continued staring at me until I could feel myself blushing slightly. ''I-I'm not s-scared! I-I'm fine.'' And with that, I walked past Martyn and continued looking for ores, and mobs. After another few minutes of mining, I spotted something shining blue and knew what it was instantly. Lapis. Martyn's favorite ore. I looked behind me to check that Martyn was busy mining before walking over to it. I placed one of the only torches I had left next to it and mined it. I held the pieces of Lapis in my hand and hid them behind my back. ''Hey Martyn! Come over here!'' I shouted over to him. He stopped mining and walked over to me. I showed him the Lapis and he instantly grabbed it out of my hand. ''Oooh Lapis! Thank you Toby!'' He hugged me but quickly went back to staring at the blue rocks in his hand. I blushed slightly when he hugged me but stopped so that he wouldn't see. I heard a sound behind me and turned to see a creeper and two zombies walking towards us. I ran behind Martyn and he looked up confused. ''Oh… Come here you buggers!'' He got his emerald sword out and killed the mobs in three quick slashes. In the time it had taken him to kill the zombies and the creeper, I had sat down in a corner by one of the torches and huddled into a ball. I heard his footsteps as he walked over to me. ''T-toby? Are you ok?'' He asked. I just stayed huddled up and replied, in between sobs, with. ''N-no, I-I'm n-not ok.'' He came and sat down in front of me and asked again. ''Toby? What's the matter?'' I just shook my head and sobbed. I felt his hand on my shoulder and slowly looked up. ''I-I'm s-scared of the d-dark and of w-what c-could be in i-it…'' I muttered. He looked me in the eyes and asked. ''Why didn't you just say before we came mining then?'' I looked, through tear filled eyes, back at him. ''B-because I thought y-you would l-laugh at me and t-tell me not to b-be such a c-coward.'' Martyn continued looking into my eyes. ''Why would I think you were a coward? Everyone is afraid of something.'' I just looked down again and replied, somewhat bitterly. ''You aren't afraid of anything…'' ''I am afraid of something! Maybe not to the same extent as your fear but I don't like Spiders. Hate them.'' He shudders and lifts my head up gently. ''Please stop crying Toby.'' I looked back into his eyes and sighed. I have to tell him now… ''M-martyn…?'' He looked back at me and gave me a questioning look. ''Yeah Toby?'' I took a second to build up what little courage I had in me before saying. ''I-I have b-been having…f-feelings…for y-you f-for a w-while now…'' He looked a little surprised but hid it and asked. ''W-what type of feelings?'' This is it. I hope he doesn't laugh. ''…L-love…'' I looked back down again, blushing like mad. The next second, he lifted my head gently and kissed me. Oh my god, he is kissing me. I reacted and kissed him back before breaking it after a few seconds for air. ''I love you too Toby and I always will.'' I couldn't believe it, he loves me too? Shocked but extremely happy, I said. ''I love you Martyn.'' I hugged him and buried my face into his shoulder as he hugged me back.
